They say Las Vegas never sleeps but this Sunday night was a nightmare Vegas saw with open eyes.
In the worst ever rampage in the United States a 64-year-old retired accountant open fired a hailstorm of bullets from the 32nd floor of the Mandalay Bay Hotel in Las Vegas.
From the 32nd floor of the hotel, bullets showered down on an open-air concert which had about 22000 people attending it! Clearly, this isn’t what the people attending the concert would have ever dreamed about even in their worst nightmares!
58 killed, 515 injured
The crazy shoot-out by Stephen Paddock, the culprit killed 58 people while more than 500 people sustained injuries, most of them battling for life at hospitals across the city of Las Vegas.
Bullets continued to rain for as long as 5 to 10 minutes as per the witnesses from the 32nd floor and people had no idea as to where do they run to save their lives.
This is indeed the most lethal mass shooting the United States of America has ever witnessed in terms of casualties and injuries. We extend condolences to those who lost their loved ones in this utter madness.
This wasn’t the first such incident in the US. In June 2016 49 people were gunned down in Orlando, Florida at a gay nightclub!
The shooter had pledged allegiance to the ISIS and this is a similar incident with a higher quantum of collateral damage. This Las Vegas attack is the biggest mass shootout in terms of lives lost and injuries incurred.
Shooter Later killed self
Before the SWAT team stormed into the room of the Mandalay Bay Hotel where this sick shooter had checked in the shooter, Stephen Paddock killed himself before being busted.
The shooter from whose room 1o rifles were recovered strangely had no criminal record before he scripted this genocide on the heart of Vegas. There is no official statement by the Las Vegas police yet about the weapons exactly used for the shootout.
Is there an ISIS link?
While the Islamic State said that the shooter was someone who had recently converted and hence took the onus of the carnage in Las Vegas the FBI has denied any link between Stephen Paddock and The Islamic State. Further probes may reveal a different story.
Clearly, it is the entire world that is now in the grasp of growing roots of terror irrespective of who spreads it and hence it is the time that a stronger narrative of mutual global cooperation is fabricated to solve the very alarming situation the world is facing.
