The Kanpur ODI was all about records: Here is the long list

The Kanpur ODI which was a perfect tiebreaker between Team India and the Kiwis was not just high on enthusiasm and cricket fanatism but also made some major changes to the record books. This One Day International with which India sealed the 3 match series will always be remembered for the long list of records that were scripted at the Green Park, Kanpur.

Records got flipped one after the other as India and New Zealand both gave a tough time to each other in their quest for the series win but gladly the men in blue margined out the Black Caps. Here is the spree of records that were written down in the record books as India emerged victorious at Kanpur.

KOHLI: THE NEW ADDRESS OF RECORDS

Kohli became the fastest batsman to complete 9000 ODI runs. Previously the record was held by AB De Villiers, the stalwart proteas batsman. Virat Kohli completed his 9000 ODI runs in just 194 innings while ABD took 205 innings to achieve the feat.

Virat Kohli also became the first player to complete 2000 international runs this year. These runs are across formats.

Virat Kohli whose name is now a beautiful synonym to records became the fastest captain ever to score 5000 ODI runs.

Virat Kohli also broke the record of Ricky Ponting of having scored maximum runs in a calendar year in the capacity of a captain as he smashed 1460 runs this year.

Virat Kohli also became the first captain to smash 6 ODI hundred in a year and the number just seems to get better with each year.

With 11 200 plus partnerships in ODIs Virat Kohli is the first player to have such a large number of 200 plus partnerships.

Under Kohli Team India has 7 straight bilateral series win in ODIs and this is the most by an Indian captain.

ROHIT GOT A RECORD TO HIS KITTY AS WELL

The hitman who flopped in the first two games of the series came back with a stunning knock of 147. He became the second fastest in the game to hit 150 ODI sixes and this is something he would be really proud of. When he hits them, they stay hit!

VIRAT AND ROHIT MAKE THE BEST BATTING PAIR EVER

They really seem to enjoy batting with each other despite a certain hassle in the running between wickets. They became the only batting pair to score  200 plus partnerships 4 times and this tells you about their on the field bromance.

They also became the pair to have the highest century-plus stands among Indians.

BUMRAH TOO JOINED THE PARTY

Jasprit Bumrah completed his 50 ODI wickets a Kanpur and became the second fastest bowler for India to do so. While Ajit Agarkar completed his tally of 50 in 23 games, Jasprit Bumrah took 28 matches to reach the milestone.
