Life is meant to meet death one day yet death leaves behind a cluster of sorrows. Such is the precedent of the life cycle. The morning of 27th April came with a news that has made the realms of Bollywood and fans of Bollywood sulk in gloominess.
The veteran actor Vinod Khanna who has been a part of the entertainment industry since 1968 has passed away after he succumbed to cancer. Vinod Khanna besides his versatile acting traits would always be known as one of the most handsome actors to have served the Industry.
This Punjabi personality has ruled over Mumbai for a long tenure and at his sad demise, we can only wish that his soul rests in peace.
Tenure at Bollywood
Vinod Khanna was a decorated actor in terms of movies that did wonders at the box offices and awards. After his debut in 1968 movie Man Ka Meet, there was no looking back for Vinod Khanna. Qurbani, Inkar, Amar Akbar Anthony, Muqaddar ka Sikandar, Mere Apne are the super hits that he would always be remembered for. He was at the peak of his career in 1982.
He was conferred with Filmfare Lifetime Achievement Award in 1999 and the Zee Cine Lifetime Achievement Award in 2007. Besides this, he has been nominated many times for various awards and honours of the film industry. He was last seen on screen playing Salman’s father in Dabbang 2.
The entire Bollywood has expressed grief on his sad demise.
Vinod Khanna had a keen interest in politics. Dwelling on this interest he joined the BJP in 1997. He was elected as a member of the Lok Sabha twice from Gurdaspur constituency. He even went on to become the Union Minister for culture and tourism in 2002. In 2014 when Modi wave swept the nation he was chosen again as an MP from the same constituency after he lost out in 2009.
Since he was a sitting MP from Gurdaspur even the political realms are dejected.
Vinod Khanna was hospitalised since weeks for his illness. He succumbed to his ill health at the H.N Reliance Foundation Hospital in Mumbai. Even though his family saw it coming we still realise and sympathise with their grief. We extend condolence to his family and pray for the peace of his soul for he was a magnanimous human being.
